I had the pleasure to attend the Festival des Métiers organized by Hermès in San Francisco. They selected craftsmen from each department to show their work and teach how they create Hermès products. It was a very inspiring event.

There were jewelry designers, watch and leather artisans and a big space dedicated to their famous silks. The silk screening process is incredible and still very artistic.

They usually work with 10 to 20 screens for each design, but some require more than 30 screens. With precision and care, they paint layer after layer until the illustration is complete. Every scarf uses around 300 silk cocoons.
